Does Dennis Busenitz Lack Mainstream Appeal?
I’m sure many of you have heard the rumor that Jamie Thomas sent Chris Cole some black hair dye and AC/DC t-shirts after recruiting him for Zero. True or not, it isn’t that far-fetched. A unique look can go a long way in skateboarding, and I don’t know if Chris Cole would be quite as popular if he was still rocking rugby shirts and huge Ezekiel jeans:

Last week’s 12th Annual Transworld Skateboarding Awards gave Chris Cole the title of “Best Street.” He was pitted against Dennis Busenitz and Zered Bassett, and probably won in a landslide amongst the TWS academy. I’m not going to claim that Chris Cole isn’t good or that the TWS Awards have any kind of authority on the subject, but a little diversity would be nice. Chris Cole wins everything, give the dude a break. Dennis Busenitz stepped up with his part in Adidas Diagonal, and definitely deserves some recognition.
It got me thinking, maybe Dennis Busenitz could use a new look to become more marketable and take next year’s TWS Awards. I tried out a few styles below, let us know which one has the most potential or if we forgot a look that help him gain acceptance in the eyes of Transworld. The source image comes from Flickr.
