The Inland Empire Strikes Back

Posted on February 1st, 2012 by kevin

Got to skate a little with my man Fred Bojorquez the other day when the conversation turned to this ‘98 Transworld article on the Inland Empire. Fred has been the long standing, unofficial Mayor of the I.E. and rightfully received the opening sequence in the article. And next to beating Mike Carroll in a game of S.K.A.T.E. is one of his more cherished moments, so I figured I’d hook him a homie up by posting it.

After years of being known for little more than The Pipeline, Chaffey High School and Baldy Pipe, this article shone a light on a number of spots and local rippers including the aforementioned Fred, Joey Brezinski, Tom Krauser, J.P. Jadeed, Josh Neher, Luis Cruz and Ryan Miller as well as I.E. icons such as Salba, Ray Barbee and Richard Mulder.

Of course, Chris Miller, Eric Koston and countless others also helped lay some groundwork in the I.E., but it was this article that started causing people to stand up and take notice of the many spots and rippers littering the smoggy San Bernardino foothills.
